The Prosper Eagles (6-3) and the Allen Eagles (7-2) faced off on Friday, Oct. 29, at Children’s Health Stadium for their fifth district game. This highly anticipated game ended up with an unexpected win for Prosper, 28-23, after winning against Denton Braswell last week 38-17.

The win for Prosper broke Allen’s 11 year streak of winning every district game, which began in 2010.

Key to success

The defense and offense both had strong players that worked throughout the game to pull off a win.

Throughout the game, junior quarterback Harrison Rosar threw 335 yards and three touchdowns, which heavily contributed to the win. Rosar was named offensive player of the week by the coaches. Rosar’s passes to senior Tyler Bailey, senior wide receiver Houston Hawkins and junior wide receiver Hunter Summers all helped the team score.

Summers earned “Sauce” player of the week by the coaches. “Sauce” is what the program awards players who make big plays or contribute in more ways than just offense, defense or special teams. He ended the game with nine successful passes, 124 yards, and two touchdowns.

Bailey, who plays as both a corner and wide reciever, had 130 yards and one touchdown.

Hawkins ended the game with 81 yards and receptions that heavily contributed to the team.

Heading into the next game

On Friday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m, the Eagles will play the McKinney Boyd Broncos at McKinney ISD Stadium for their last district game of the regular season. Tickets can be purchased here.

The McKinney Boyd Broncos are heading into this game with a 7-2 record, while the Prosper Eagles are going in with a 6-3 record. According to MaxPreps, the Prosper Eagles are ranked second in the district, and the McKinney Boyd Broncos are ranked fourth. Last year, Prosper beat Boyd by one point, 29-28.

The team says they are ready for the game and excited to play their last district game before heading into the playoffs. Because the Eagles beat Allen, they have secured a spot in the playoffs.
