The Prosper Eagles (5-3) and Denton Braswell Bengals (5-4) faced off on Friday, Oct. 22, at Collins Athletic Complex for their fourth district game. After a rough beginning to the season, with losses to Southlake Carroll, Little Elm and Denton Guyer, this highly anticipated game ended up with another win for the Eagles, 38-17, after winning against McKinney last week 31-14.
Key to success
The defense and offense both had strong players that worked throughout the game to pull off a win.
Throughout the game, junior quarterback Harrison Rosar had 377 yards and four touchdowns. Rosar was also responsible for throwing to senior wide receivers Houston Hawkins and Tyler Bailey.
Hawkins had six receptions, 211 yards and two touchdowns. He was nominated for Star Local Media Athlete of the Week on Twitter.
Bailey, who also plays as a corner, had 149 receiving yards, two touchdowns, one interception and three tackles.
Heading into the next game
On Friday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m, the Eagles will play the Allen Eagles at Children’s Health Stadium for their last home game of the regular season. Tickets can be purchased through the team’s Ticket Spicket.
The Allen Eagles are heading into this game with a 7-1 record, while the Prosper Eagles are going in with a 5-3 record. According to MaxPreps, the Allen Eagles are ranked first in the district, and the Prosper Eagles are ranked third, behind Allen and Guyer. Last year, Prosper lost to Allen 35-31 at Allen.
The team says they are ready for the game, but it will be a challenge. Prosper needs to win against Allen and the last regular-season game to have a guaranteed spot in the playoffs.
