The Red Cross club was verified and officially starts next semester. The club plans to help the Red Cross with any services or projects they need help with.

“Basically the Red Cross club, we partner with the red cross organization, so we let them know that we’re going to form a club at our high school to do as much volunteer work, to get hours for college, and to get hours in general for the community and help out as much as we can and aid the Red Cross,” vice president Neha Madhira said.

The club will work to help the community as much as possible in the upcoming semester.

“As of right now we have one contact in an office in Dallas and once we make sure everything is approved with her, we’re basically just going to ask her anything that we can do as a community; whether it be something like a one-person job or as a group, we’re going to just try to get done as much as possible,” Madhira said.

Mr. Kear is the staff sponsor, and Adwaith George started the Red Cross club.

“Adwaith George started the club with his sister, Aria George, last year because he wanted to give back in the community and he also wanted this to be on his college application,” Madhira said.

There will be an election for new officers next semester.

“As of right now, the officers are Adwaith George and myself, but the club has had a lot of issues this semester with getting everything verified and stuff like that through the Red Cross and through the school and stuff, so next semester we’re going to start the club back up again and we’ll have a new election,” Madhira said. “But as of right now, it’s just Adwaith and I.”

The club plans to meet every Wednesday after school, but it will also meet on Fridays during eagle time once the club has more service projects to work on.

“If we start to get more events and stuff like that to do or just service things to do, then we’ll meet on Fridays during eagle time as well,” Madhira said.

It is free to join the club, but it is required to register with the Red Cross first.

“Whenever you first start the club, you register for the Red Cross online; you make an account and so then the Red Cross and all of the officers and stuff like that at your local building, as well as the National Building, they know that you’re actually doing something and you’re a part of it,” Madhira said.
