1.What did you do before Prosper and/or teaching

“Before Prosper, I was in Frisco for the last twelve years. The majority of my career has been in high school. I played basketball in college, I was fortunate enough to have that opportunity. In between my freshman and sophomore and my junior and senior year, I went to X-ray school because I didn’t think that I wanted to play basketball anymore. I used to be a certified X-ray tech, but I was never employed. I went straight back to school and teaching. There are a lot of fun interesting things in X-ray school. If I would have stayed as an X-ray tech I would have been in Ortho or Radiation Therapy.” (Ortho would be taking X-rays of things like broken bones and fractures, radiation therapy would be the person who controls the X-ray that kills cancer cells)

2. What’s the craziest/favorite thing that has happened while teaching and in your past career?

“When my kids come up to school with me, they enjoy it.”

3. Favorite part about teaching?

“My favorite part about teaching is the relationships with the kids. Getting to experience all of the different kinds of personalities that kids have. My goal is to figure each one of those personalities out. Kids come from all walks of life, it’s interesting to me to see how different, yet so similar they can be.”

4. The goal for yourself and your students?

“Well my goal for my students is just that they feel important in the classroom while learning content. I feel like that kids need a place and that they need someone to care, I want them to feel that way. I want to be that person for them. Not that I’m going to be a pushover. I hope that I have the perfect balance of compassion and expectation.”
