As an automotive enthusiast, I was overjoyed when Toyota announced the 2020 Supra. As a Supra lover I was excited that Toyota would be making a new engine, the 3JZ.

But then a partnership with BMW got leaked. BMW’s turbocharged B58 engine and other parts would be used in not only the new 2020 supra, but BMW’s Z4. It makes sense. Toyota is still a business. At the end of the day, they still have to make ends meet.

Automotive enthusiasts around the globe were outraged and sad. This would probably be the last Toyota Supra, and it wasn’t even made by Toyota … or at least, that’s what everyone thinks.

Toyota took the tools that BMW had made and perfected them. Toyota went through every single nut, bolt and crease, to make sure it was up to their standards. The B58 that BMW manufactures supposedly makes less brake horsepower than the Toyota counterpart.

The interior of the new Supra, however, is almost all BMW. The multimedia screen to the gear selector is all classic BMW, however it is not 100% BMW. Toyota designed multi-adjustable bucket like seats to keep you bolstered on a spirited drive and comfortable going to work.

One of the best parts of the Supra is something you might not even think about, Toyota added a foam pad on the driver’s side where the knee touches.

I’m still overjoyed that the legacy of the Supra has been renewed, even if some of the parts are BMW.
