Following a win on March 25, the Prosper Lady Eagle softball team has reached the midpoint of its 2025 season. With a record of 13-2, the girls rank first in the district and 76th in the state. The team will have its next game on March 28 at home against the 16-7 Plano East Panthers.
“We are working hard during practice to prepare for Friday’s game,” sophomore Berklee Shannon said. “We are also continuing to play as a team.”
Friday’s match will be round two of District 6-6A, and it will be the second time the Lady Eagles face the Panthers. Prosper Softball first played Plano East on Feb. 25, resulting in a 13-5 win at home.
“I would say we’re learning from our mistakes,” senior Camila Andino said. “We are working on those at practice, and our goal for the remainder of the season is to come together as a team and win.”
Andino is committed to playing Division II softball at Dallas Christian College in the fall. Additionally, senior Maddie Ramirez is committed to playing Division II softball at McPherson College. Another key player for the Lady Eagles this year has been sophomore pitcher Peyton Moya, who tallied her 200th strike–out during the teams’ 6-5 win over McKinney on March 11.
The team is having a successful season, with a current win of 0.857%, and remaining undefeated at home. The ladies have also earned five shut–out wins over North Forney, South Hills, Creekview, Plano, and their most recent, an outstanding 15-0 victory over Princeton.
The team took its second season loss to the Plano West Wolves on March 20, falling short 4-9 to the second-place district-ranked team. Prosper will meet Plano West again this season for their final game on April 17 at the PHS Softball Field.
Looking ahead to Friday’s game, the ladies are expected to come out on top of the Panthers, who are currently 16-7, ranked fifth in the district and 118th in the state. Plano East will be looking to continue their win streak after their 25-4 win against Princeton in their most recent game. Prosper will keep an eye on Plano East junior Brooke Reasoner, who plays for the American Freedom National 16U team and was nominated for Star Local Media’s Athlete of the Week on Mar. 9.
The Lady Eagles are looking to finish the remainder of the season strong, playing to their strengths and bringing home as many championships as possible.
