Transitioning from Rock Hill High School to a different school was a little challenging. I had to start over, meet new people and get used to a new school. When I moved to Prosper High School, I went from a yearbook class to a newspaper class. Being on the newspaper team will continue sharpening my journalism skills when headed to Richland once the high school opens up next year. By the time I begin to get used to this school, I will have to move again, and by the time my sophomore year comes around, I will have attended three out of the four high schools in Prosper ISD.
Transitioning from middle school to high school really wasn’t a trouble because, moving to high school, I knew most people at my middle school.
Some of the challenges that I faced during yearbook was going out and taking pictures. Sometimes, it would be hard to angle the camera on one thing I wanted it to focus on. My favorite part of the yearbook was when I was at football games and got to sit on the field and take pictures the whole time, while I had some of my friends sitting with me in the bleachers telling me to keep going and take more pictures.
Going into the newspaper right after the yearbook was kind of hard because the newspaper was a lot more head-forward and had more things to face. More hard work is faced in this class because you have to publish a lot, but after all it’s not actually bad.
Newspaper is not bad because it has a smaller class and it is really quiet, so people get their work done. However, the Rock Hill yearbook class was bigger and kind of hard because it had more people and was not as quiet.
Through these moments going from middle school to high school, I felt scared to come to Prosper because some people used to say that this school was not good and they said that it was “ghetto,” but, after all, it’s not a bad school because everything is the same except for some of the food in the cafe – Rock Hill had Sonic and Prosper has Burger King.
Another great thing about both schools is they both have good people and the staff are nice. Although some people try to make schools look bad, they aren’t, and sometimes Prosper can be better than Rock Hill, but both schools are great schools.
