The red carpet will roll out, and the music industry’s biggest stars will gather at Crypto Arena in Los Angeles on Feb. 2 for the 67th Grammy Awards. Though this event is two months away, nominations for ‘Music’s Biggest Night’ have just dropped, leaving fans and artists in anticipation.

Over the 94 categories of awards, Beyoncé topped the list with 11 nominations, totaling an astounding 99 career nominations. Released in March, Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ entered the artist into many categories, including the big three: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year.

Another familiar face we will be seeing is, of course, Taylor Swift. With the success of her newest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, and her massive world tour, ‘The Eras Tour,’ Swift totaled six nominations to potentially add to her 14 Grammys.

Competing closely with these veteran artists is rising star, Sabrina Carpenter with the success of her album ‘Short n’ Sweet’. Carpenter is also up for these three highly anticipated awards, racking six total nods.

Eagerness will fill the room for the pop star on award night as she is set to potentially make history. If the 25-year-old takes the trophies in both Song of the Year and Record of the Year, she would become the first female artist in more than 50 years to do so.

One category Carpenter is up for is Best New Artist, which is honestly surprising given that this year’s release was the artist’s sixth studio album. Not surprising, however, is Chappell Roan’s nomination for this award, with her massive rise in popularity in 2024. Hit songs “Good Luck, Babe!” and “Hot to Go!”, energetic live performances throughout the year, and receiving Best New Artist at the 2024 VMAs have boosted Roan’s name, making her a very likely candidate to win.

Also, VMA nominees Kendrick Lamar and SZA are contenders in the R&B and Rap categories with seven and nine nods, respectively. Two of the most influential artists of the decade in these genres, Lamar and SZA, are up for awards such as Best Rap Song and Best R&B Song.

With a Super Bowl halftime show to perform one week after the Grammys, Lamar will potentially have one of the biggest weeks of his career.

Some veteran artists are not ending their careers just yet. The Beatles, Pearl Jam, Metallica, and The Rolling Stones are nominees for Best Rock Album, Best Rock Performance, and Best Metal Performance. These are some of the most iconic and classic music groups, and many are still performing live, so it will be exciting to see what awards they take home.

Writing from Texas, I think one final category is important to highlight: country awards. Familiar artist Chris Stapleton earned two total nods, Best Country Album and Best Country Solo Performance, where the singer can earn his 13th and 14th Grammys.

Along with Stapleton, Lainey Wilson, Dan + Shay, and Kacey Musgraves are some of my favorite country nominees. The 2024 Country Music Awards took place on Wed. Nov. 20, and may give us a preview of some artists we can look for at the Grammys in February.

Personally, I am a huge country music fan, so I am definitely most excited to see who takes the gold in those categories, but my love for pop music also has me ready for those awards. Sabrina Carpenter made her mark in 2024 with her ‘Short n’ Sweet’ tour and opening for Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour, so she is the individual artist I am eager to see.

Fans and artists will be waiting in anticipation over the next few months, with just 73 days until the 67th Grammy Awards.
