As the Major League Baseball season is just about to end, teams are making a final push to secure a playoff spot this year. The American League is in a tight race between four teams to be in the postseason. The Texas Rangers are not one of those teams.
The Rangers played horribly this season for a team who won the World Series last year. Usually whenever a team wins the World Series they go back to the playoffs next year but for the Rangers – that might not happen, they’re one of the worst teams in the league this season. The rangers have had lots of things gone wrong for them this season.
Start of Rangers Season
Through the first month of the season the Rangers were looking like a pretty good team with them being 2nd in the AL(American League) West and had high expectations of making the playoffs because they won the World Series. Their players were playing great with hitters getting on base and scoring lots of runs. They also had multiple injuries to start the season but that did not bother the team that much.
The rangers young players in their lineup were helping them win games. Josh Smith and Wyatt Langford are two players who played great in the first half of the season batting over .245 and were top five in batting average on the Rangers. The team looked good in the middle of June with only around 4 games back of the Wild card race. The rangers should be playing better because they had high expectations of them making the playoffs. Even though they’ve had multiple injuries they look like they can just barely make the playoffs this year.
Rangers Downfall
The second half of the season was absolutely horrible for the Rangers. Key players like Josh Jung and Evan Carter, who did amazing in the postseason last year, were out for many games because of injuries this season. Other all–stars on the team like Jonah Heim and Adolis Garcia have had an awful season this year. Both players had a batting average of less than .220. This is an extremely horrible batting average for players who were all–stars last season. The pitchers for the Rangers were not doing so good as all the starting pitchers had an ERA above 3.50. From July 1 to Sept. 1 the rangers have only won 23 out of the 52 games which is terrible for a World Series team last year. This team has not looked good the whole season, and they will not make the playoffs this year.

Brutally honest. Your use of stats is impressive.
