In a graphic made by Multimedia Director & Assistant News Editor Caleb Audia, Adele’s latest single “Easy On Me” is projected. The upcoming album, and the new track itself, are known to be a letter about Adele’s recent divorce to her young son. “It was my ride or die,” Adele wrote on her Instagram post, “throughout the most turbulent period of my life.”

Incredible singer, songwriter and now-model Adele released a new single, “Easy On Me.” The track was the debut single from her upcoming album, “30,” which is scheduled to drop on Nov. 19, bringing Adele’s fans new work after six years of waiting.

“I’d go as far as to say that I’ve never felt more peaceful in my life,” Adele wrote on her Instagram post announcing the album.

“Easy On Me” debuted, through YouTube, on midnight Oct. 15 in the United Kingdom, or 6 p.m. for Prosper residents. During the premiere, Adele’s accompanying video for the track gained over 27 million views within the first 17-hours of its release.

The upcoming album, and the new track itself, are known to be a letter about Adele’s recent divorce to her young son. “It was my ride or die,” Adele wrote on her Instagram post, “throughout the most turbulent period of my life.”

The single, “Easy On Me,” starts off with catchy piano chords, and some reverbed effects that subtly bring in the emotion of the track before Adele begins to sing.

The first verse, “There ain’t no gold in this river / That I’ve been washin’ my hands in forever / I know there is hope in these waters / But I can’t bring myself to swim / When I am drownin’ in the silence / Baby, let me in” is a shocking comparison to her feelings of wasted time and hopelessness during her previous relationship, as well as moving on from it.

The track continues with a piano-based background, focusing the listener in on the pristine and well-done vocal production.

Go easy on me, baby / I was still a child / Didn’t get the chance to / Feel the world around me / I had no time to choose what I chose to do / So go easy on me,” Adele belts for the chorus. Seemingly about her feelings entering her new relationship, Adele is signaling her inexperience in healthy relationships, signaling the theme of the track: go easy on her.

Growing up listening to Adele, we can confidently say that her new single marks a vigorous come-back for the artist. The music video made a great addition to the track, and displays the emotional meaning behind the track.

Adele’s ability to connect with fans through her music not only provides an outlet for her but for listeners as well.  For many of us nearly life-long fans, this song represents the strength that Adele has not only as an evolving songwriter and singer but as a person.

If Adele’s upcoming album is anything like “Easy On Me,” listeners can expect her continuing high quality and multiple-award-winning work.
