A sendoff for the Prosper esports team was held Monday, Jan. 9. The team started competitions the same day. The team went to state and won the first round, currently advancing to the semi-finals.

As three elementary school students play a card game, family support specialists Shannon Tibbits and Colleen Kugler help the play move forward. The Family Resource Center holds weekly Game On! events every Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., where neurodivergent children can practice social skills by playing games with peers. I love all the positivity that this place possesses — the joy, the support and the encouragement that people receive when theyre here, Tibbits said. Its very inspiring.

Crouching behind the counter, junior Lauren Clayton and seniors Nora Vedder and Alex Drum sit behind their entries for a family-friend gingerbread house competition. Competitors spent just about an hour on entries and voted on the top three houses. I had a lot of fun making my house, Vedder said. I always watched A Charlie Brown Christmas when I was little, so when we decided to do the competition I knew I wanted to do Snoopys doghouse.

The concert bands receive a standing ovation from their packed auditorium audience at the conclusion of the holiday concert. The event provided free entry, so family, friends and fans filled the seats. A digital program gave those who attended information about the the different performing groups.

This picture of a Hope Tree ornament, taken by counselor Stephanie Clayton, displays the detail and affection put into every decoration. According to Clayton, this specific symbol of the season reflects the memory of a lost loved one, and joins one of the many made to hang on the Hope Tree. I have tons of different colors of ribbon, Clayton said. Students can select ribbons that represent different emotions that you feel when you think about that person. Some common emotions that people select include love, loneliness, anger, sadness, frustration, hope, encouragement, inspiration and peace.
