At 8:32 a.m., students wait for the gates to go up at 8:35 a.m. to allow them to get to first period. The gates stay down before 8:35 a.m. to prevent students from roaming the school unless they have tutoring or club meetings. The gate policy is new this year.

Pictured above are fishing team members Ben Hurbough, Carter Evans, Hayden Chase alongside their coach. The Prosper fishing team presented their first-place trophy to Mr. Jones Oct. 20. The team brought in 1st out of 49 other high schools in the North Texas Division; the total teams were 240. This was on Lake Lewisville. The team will be meeting tonight, and their next tournament is Nov. 12 on Lake Ray Roberts.

As the only student speaker, sophomore Julia Fahrenthold presents her reasons for why rising juniors should be given the choice. In addition to Fahrenthold, four other speakers presented to the school board during the meeting. Each speaker was limited to three minutes.

As they gaze into space, senior Cooper Smith, sophomore Luckie Cormier and freshman Nathan Phillips ride their rocket ship in the game Movie Trailer. Smith and Philips are both in the upcoming Les Misérables production and Cormier plays Mrs. Peacock in Clue. I feel like I am learning a lot about being an actor, Phillips said. Its really fun.

The PHS Eagle Production Group went to New York City for the All American High School Film Festival this last week and returned to Prosper with multiple awards and nominations. The festival is the largest high school film festival in the world, with thousands of entries and competitors from over 40 countries. The students attended the awards show in the historic Kings Theater in Brooklyn.

As part of the song Live in Living Color from Catch Me If You Can, sophomore Aiden Hansen holds his arm out high as he sings his solo. Hansen will play Marius in the upcoming production Les Misérables. I learned valuable leadership skills, and how to lead my cast through choreographing one of the group numbers for the cabaret, Hansen said. I think people should come see Les Misérables because is a great story about love (as well as) the French Revolution, and it really teaches you a valuable lesson.

The board met Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. to discuss concerns brought up related to zoning boundaries, and decide on a finalized plan. I came from Prosper High School to open Rock Hill as the new administrator, and I think opening new schools is awesome, lead assistant principal at Rock Hill High School, Melissa Weiss, said. It provides more opportunities for students — obviously things are shiny and new in the beginning, but Prosper High has an awesome building, and Rock Hill is still amazing. I think that change is inevitable, and with a district thats growing at the rate that ours is, we have to open new schools.
