As the theatre department prepares for their upcoming winter show, senior Grayson Aron tunes his guitar. The theatre department will film their virtual December show this week. Moments to Moments is a combination of scenes, songs, and student-made poems about love, body image and mental health. The show has a gold and black color scheme to support the Hope Squad.

Beaming through the morning mist, the sun rises over Erwin park in McKinney, Texas. Sometimes found practicing at Erwin park, the cross country team competed at district Oct. 30, and sophomore Dawson Svoboda placed as the district champion. The team will race against the 6A Division I in the region championship Nov. 10.

Gathering after their matches, junior Maegan Flaherty and senior Delia Luna stand alongside coaches Tony Cooper and Sion King. Luna placed 4th and Flaherty placed 5th in their weight classes. The girls and boys team competed in the USA Wrestling Preseason National Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa, with senior LJ Richardson placing 5th and senior Chase Parham placing 8th for the boys team. They competed amongst the best, King said. Were very proud of them.

With ribbons lining the hallway, the school honors Red Ribbon Week Oct. 26 through Oct. 29. Red Ribbon week was created to spread drug abuse awareness, and provide tools for prevention. Student council has created dress up days for this week to promote awareness.

Following through on his backhand, junior Drew John returns his opponents ball. The tennis team starts their district tournament this week. They will face-off against Denton Braswell on Monday, Oct. 19 at 4:30 at the PHS courts.

Starting off the foggy morning invitational, senior Abishai Aryee catches up to her competition. Placing No. 12 in the varsity womens 5-kilometer run, Aryee ran a final time of 20 minutes and 44 seconds. Junior Aubrey OConnell won the 5,000-meter race with a time of 17:53.62. I’m really excited for track season in the spring because we didn’t get much of a season last year, and I think I have a lot more potential, OConnell commented when asked about her upcoming track season, aswell.

Head swim coach Trey Sullivan stands with sophomore Bailee Nelson before their meet on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The team defeated Plano Senior High School. Swim will face off against Lovejoy at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at the PISD Natatorium.

Rushing towards the endzone, sophomore running back Malik Daily carries the ball for an Eagle touchdown. He successfully made it to the endzone, scoring the third touchdown of the game. The junior varisty green team won 45-8 against the Euless Trinity Trojains.

Junior varsity and varsity football teams run into the MPF to finish practice indoors. The teams walked through their plays out on the field for their games on Thursday and Friday. Both teams have practiced to play their first game of the season against Prestonwood Christian Academy.

Hope Squad students write reminders on the windows in the halls. Hope Squad wrote these messages during Suicide Prevention Week, but also writes them frequently as a reminder for students. “During class we walk around and write positive things” Hope Squad member Junior Alyssa Clark said. “We hope these uplift people’s days.”

The staff of the Prosper Fire Department stand heads bowed in remembrance of the lives lost in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. This fire station is located on East First Street. Community members in attendance were asked to comply with social distancing guidelines.

To show support to local and national police officers, Childrens Health Stadium is lit blue. The stadium will be lit blue for the majority of September as a reminder of all the good that police officers do for the community. Not only is the PISD stadium being lit blue but several businesses and families are lighting their houses and buildings blue to show their support of men and women in uniform.
