“Artist of the Week” and band member Heron Barbosa takes a break from his instrument to discuss his artwork and his music. Here’s an excerpt from the attached article: “Q: Do you see band as another form of art? “Yes, 100%. I would consider it part of me being an artist.”

Band member blossoms with music, paintings

Q: How long have you been an artist/why did you become an artist?

“I’ve been doing art for about five years. The reason I started is because all my friends were artists, and I wanted to get on their level.”

Q: What kind of art do you do?

“I do drawing and painting, but mostly watercolor paintings. I really like to paint flowers.”

Q: What is the meaning behind your artwork/why did you become an artist?

“My work doesn’t have much meaning, I just like to draw and paint because it looks pretty.”

Q: What is your favorite piece you’ve created so far?

“My favorite one is probably the octopus sculpture that I’ve made. It’s one of the only sculptures I’ve made, but it made it to state, so I’m really happy with it.”

Q: Do you see band as another form of art?

“Yes, 100%. I would consider it part of me being an artist.”

Q: Will you continue to do art beyond high school? If not, what are your plans?

“Mainly as a hobby, like painting will most definitely still be a hobby, but I probably won’t take it that seriously.”
